چکیده
We present the result of studies into characteristics high-latitude ionospheric F-region longitudinal plasma waves (Langmuir and ion-acoustic), caused by impact powerful HF radio ordinary (O-mode) or extraordinary (X-mode) polarization EISCAT/Heating facility, Tromsø, Norway. The on October 20, 2012 February 26, 2013 were emitted in direction magnetic zenith with a step change effective radiation power (ERP). frequency fH facility was close to F2-layer critical foF2 (fH/foF2~1) exceeded electron gyroresonance fH>5fce. On 2012, conditions fH/foF2~0.85–0.95 fH<6fce fulfilled. Analysis EISCAT measurements an incoherent scatter radar (ISR) at 930 MHz, spatially aligned heating for ERP<200 MW, has shown that parametric decay instabilities are excited heights where pump is Langmuir frequency, fH≈fPL. have studied peculiarities excitation as function height ionosphere wave polarization, ratios between foF2, also nfce.

Ionospheric electron heating, optical emissions, and striations induced by powerful HF radio waves at high latitudes: Aspect angle dependence
[1] In recent years, large electron temperature increases of 300% (3000 K above background) caused by powerful HF-radio wave injection have been observed during nighttime using the EISCAT incoherent scatter radar near Tromsø in northern Norway. In a case study we examine the spatial structure of the modified region. The electron heating is accompanied by ion heating of about 100 degrees and mag...
متن کاملFocusing of HF radio-waves by ionospheric ducts
This paper presents the first direct observations of HF focusing induced by natural and artificial ionospheric ducts along with a simple theoretical model. The experiments were conducted by injecting HF radio-waves using the Ionospheric Research Instrument of the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program located in Gakona, Alaska and detecting them with instruments on the overflying French...
متن کاملCerenkov Excitation of WhistlerHelicon Waves by Ionospheric HF Heating
A novel scheme for exciting VLF waves and injecting them in the magnetosphere is presented. The scheme is based on Cerenkov excitation of whistler and helicon waves in an altitude range of 80-95 kin. Contrary to the traditional Cerenkov excitation which relies on a charge moving at speeds ex•g the local phase velocity of the wave, the present scheme relies on currents moving transversely to its...

The effect of an ionospheric dynamo electric field on the electron density and total electron content (TEC) perturbations in the F layer (150–600 km altitudes) is investigated at two arbitrarily selected locations (noted as 29◦ N and 60◦ N in latitudes) in the presence of seismic tsunami-excited gravity waves propagating in a stratified, nondissipative atmosphere where vertical gradients of atm...
